A Castle in England is an Arts Council England supported literature project collaboration between writer Jamie Rhodes(Dead Men’s Teeth, 2014) and the National Trust. Jamie will spend three months as Writer in Residence at the National Trust’s Scotney Castle in Kent, working with the castle archivists to find unusual archive material around which to create 5 short graphic fiction scripts. The scripts will be illustrated by experienced comic and graphic novel artists Becky Palmer, Isabel Greenberg, Briony May Smith, William Exley, and Isaac Lenkiewic, and be published by Nobrow Press in early 2017.
These are the alternative covers for the upcoming Castle In England Project. They have been created by Mr Four Fingers, a creative duo from South Africa, and will be part of the two exhibitions associated with the art project. The alternative covers will be on display at the exhibitions at Scotney Castle in April 2017 and also at the Clerkenwell Gallery, London, in July 2017
Five stories are being written by Jamie Rhodes who is collaborating with five graphic artists to create a graphic novel inspired by the events at Scotney Castle.
You can find more information on the artists here and more info on the project here.
With the stories well underway, Mr Four Fingers art duo – the team doing my digital market, gallery exhibition, and non-sequential art – came for a visit to the castle!
The end of project exhibition will feature the original archive items from the castle that have inspired the stories, alongside blown up art prints of key panels, reveals and splashes from the finished book.
